Elektrische schepen hebben duidelijke voordelen op het gebied van lagere operationele kosten, verbeterde vaarervaring en verhoogde scheepsintelligentie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1331\">Lage bedrijfskosten<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1332\">Volledig elektrische schepen hebben een groter voordeel qua operationele kosten dan conventionele dieselschepen. Neem bijvoorbeeld een sleepboot: het energieverbruik van een volledig elektrisch schip kan gedurende de levensduur van 30 jaar gelijk zijn aan de kosten van een conventionele sleepboot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1333\">Sterke manoeuvreerbaarheid<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1334\">De snelheid van de aandrijfmotor van een volledig elektrisch schip is eenvoudig aan te passen, en de schroef heeft een volledig roterende constructie, waardoor een constant koppel bij verschillende snelheden in zowel voorwaartse als achterwaartse richting kan worden geleverd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1335\">Hoog ruimtegebruik<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1336\">De schachtlengte van traditionele schepen bedraagt vaak ongeveer 401 TP3T van de totale lengte van het schip. Schepen met volledig elektrische voortstuwing vervangen traditionele aandrijfassen, generatorolieafscheiders, olietanks, brandstofketels en andere apparatuur en installaties, evenals brandstofleidingen.
