Dens fluiditet bestemmer direkte lithiumionernes migrationshastighed. Elektrolyttens viskositet stiger kraftigt, n\u00e5r temperaturen falder - ligesom vand fortykker og fryser, n\u00e5r det er koldt. Under opladning skal lithiumioner indlejres i den negative elektrode, og under afladning skal de tr\u00e6kkes ud fra den negative elektrode. Lave temperaturer kan dog beskadige dette &quot;beskyttende skjold&quot;: p\u00e5 den ene side reducerer lave temperaturer stabiliteten af SEI-filmen, hvilket f\u00e5r nogle komponenter til at g\u00e5 i stykker og \u00f8ger modstanden mod passage af lithiumioner; p\u00e5 den anden side kan den hastighed, hvormed lithiumioner indlejres i den negative elektrode, under lavtemperaturopladning ikke f\u00f8lge med aflejringshastigheden, og overskydende lithiumioner vil udf\u00e6lde metallisk lithium p\u00e5 overfladen af den negative elektrode og danne &quot;lithiumdendritter&quot;. Samtidig vil produkterne fra reaktionen mellem lithium og elektrolytten aflejres p\u00e5 SEI-filmen, hvilket g\u00f8r filmen tykkere og yderligere hindrer transport af lithiumioner. Endnu farligere er det, at lithiumdendritter vil forts\u00e6tte med at vokse, og n\u00e5r de f\u00f8rst gennemborer SEI-filmen og batteriseparatoren, vil det for\u00e5rsage en direkte kortslutning mellem de positive og negative elektroder, hvilket f\u00f8rer til overophedning af batteriet, udbuling og endda forbr\u00e6nding eller eksplosion. Der er ingen grund til at g\u00e5 i panik. Nedbrydning af litiumbatterier for\u00e5rsaget af lav temperatur falder i to kategorier: reversibel nedbrydning og irreversibel nedbrydning, som er v\u00e6sentligt forskellige.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reversibel nedbrydning er den mest almindelige type, prim\u00e6rt for\u00e5rsaget af lave temperaturer, der \u00f8ger elektrolyttens viskositet, bremser lithium-ionernes migration og \u00f8ger ladningsoverf\u00f8rselsmodstanden. Denne type nedbrydning er som &quot;dvale&quot;; blot at flytte batteriet til stuetemperatur (20-25 \u2103) og lade det st\u00e5 i et stykke tid, giver elektrolytten mulighed for at genvinde sin flydeevne, lithium-ioner genvinder deres aktivitet, og batteriets kapacitet og ydeevne vender stort set tilbage til normale niveauer uden at p\u00e5virke batteriets levetid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Irreversibel nedbrydning skyldes derimod hovedsageligt langvarig opladning og afladning ved lav temperatur, hvilket f\u00f8rer til overdreven fortykkelse af SEI-filmen, v\u00e6kst af litiumdendriter eller irreversibel nedbrydning af elektrolytten.
